Email

Avoid Self host email – There is a reason I am putting email first and at the top. It is so I never forget. If it can help someone that’s cool too. I have spent not hours, not days, freaking weeks on this piece of… 😡 . STOP, how can I put this in a positive way? ok, I have learned a lot about self hosting email and all its components, like DNS, record types, mail servers, smtp, IMAP/POP3 server, ports, DMARC, DKIM spam protection, SPF spam protection, etc. I don’t want to say I failed, Ah screw it, I failed miserably but l learned what not to do. I came to the realization that the amount of money I earn in just one hour in my day job can pay for months for one of the most expensive email service hosting provider. Just the exchange of one hour of work in my day job could had save me weeks of techie stuff. I really need to change some habits and beliefs about wealth and money. The funny thing is, there is a CVS a few blocks from me and just for convenience and proximity I rather go there multiple times per month and spend around $45 on items without a second thought rather than going to a cost efficient better store and save money. I am not kidding I don’t even look at the price of the items. I probably spend anywhere from $150 to $300 on CVS items per month. Yet I was having second thoughts about spending a meager $6 bucks per month on google workspace or any paid email provider for that matter. I was having second thoughts on something that can actually improve my life. I can feel the new me is starting to use this beautiful brain . So from now on let’s focus first on simplicity and exchange money for time, not time for money. Also, let’s start buying things that pay you instead of wasting money in liabilities. Wow that was a rant, 😯 oh well.

Hosting

Vultr – amazing hosting speed for the price. It’s cloud hosting, not shared hosting but too techie. Plesk allow Vultr to has a free panel. You can think of this panel as the well known cPanel. Plesk allow you to have free backup, free web firewall application and free virus scan protection and free other stuff like free SSi/TLS, free caching(nginx) etc. Cloudflare allow you to have Free SSl/TLS certificate and free DDOS protection and free CDN. Vultr + Plesk + Cloudflare these save you money. However, I only recommend this to super techie people that have the time to learn and relearn. If you are a beginner then use this combination at your own peril.
