Every choice you make will lead to a specific outcome
Every decision you make have a consequence. The consequence can be beneficial to you or it may not be beneficial to you. Even when there are things that are out of your control, you always have choice. You have the choice about how to react, how to think and even how to feel.
You always have a choice
We are making choices every moment of our life. We intuitive know if the choices we are making is beneficial to us or it’s not.
Think about the liquids people drink everyday. People can choose to drink water. We know that water have many benefit. We know that if someone start drinking water everyday in the long run it will be beneficial to our physical health.
Yet many people choose to drink something else than water. Such as soft drink that has little to no benefit to our physical health.
Some might bring up that people drink soft drink instead of water because they are addicted to it or because it’s a habit.
That’s true
It’s also true that you have the right to drink as unhealthy as you want. You have the right to slowly poison and damage your body and be as miserable as you want.
We tend to take things for granted when we are not in immediate pain. We tend to not pay attention to our body until it’s screaming for help.
Self awareness and the physical body
It maybe irrelevant whether the body is a function of the mind or the mind is a function of the body. Why? because in either case…
The truth is that we have the ability to think, we are conscious being and we have awareness. We are self aware that we have the ability to think and we have awareness.
Example:
Have you ever have a headache so bad that you just wanted it to stop? You decided to take a strong pain reliever and the pain stopped.
or
Have you ever being to the dentist, and they put some anesthetic on your gum then the dentist did some work on you teeth and you did not feel any pain because your mouth was numb.
Well, let me tell you this.
When the headache went away because you took the pain reliever or when you did not feel any pain during the dentist work because you mouth was numb.
In each case the pain was still there. The body trauma was still there. It just that you not longer was aware of the pain because pain was blocked or minimized to the point where you, the part of you that is aware did not feel the pain.
Our body have many different cells, some cells take nutrients from food, some cell convert those nutrients in energy, some cell carry out specialized functions.
The body have pain cells. They function is to produce pain. Pain has a purpose. Pain is one of the way of how your body and your conscious communicate.
Pain is how your body tell you to STOP whatever you doing.
I used to have a friend that used to tell me that he has never had a headache. It was hard to believe or understand for that matter.
How can he knows he never had a headache if he never had one before?
The answer is because of pain. Since it’s your body you known which part of your body feels pain.
I myself used to get a lot of headache before. Today is being years since I have any headache or any stomach pain.
Of Couse, I am not perfect, I am not a machine, I am human after all.
Since I work with computer screen for long period of time I do get eye strain some times but even that has being greatly minimized because I take upon my self to listen to my body and do something about it.
Solutions
I stopped doing what was causing me headache. It’s so simple.
If you want the pain to stop, then stop the behavior that is causing you pain. Start listening and communicating with you body.
People are different and what works for someone may not work for someone else.
So you going to have to find out what activities you are doing that is causing you pain.
For me it was various things.
One of them was that I notice that I was not drinking enough water. At first I did really small changes. Like drinking two glasses of water after I wake up in the morning or drinking either some water or one glass of water if I wake up to pee during the night.
Thing to know, you may want to quickly rinse your mouth with water after you wake up before you drink any water. Because when you are sleeping your saliva is doing its bodily things.
After a while, drinking water became a habit. What at glorious thing! and it was not luck. it started as a conscious choice.
Nowadays, I maybe addicted to water, since I crave it and drink water all the time through out the day. And nope, water is not the only liquid I drink but it’s the main liquid I drink.
It’s way much better to be addicted to something that is beneficial to you than something that is not.
The Truth may set you free if you take action
You most likely know if you are addicted to something that is beneficial to you or not. You also most likely know if you have habits that are beneficial to you or not.
You have the choice to change it. A habit can be change by either repetition or by an event so dramatic that you body instantly change the habit.
Same thing with addiction. Addiction may have unwanted symptoms during the detox or withdrawals. You just have to prepared for it.
I just used one example that it’s easy to understand and relate because water is universal known by most people. Also, It’s one of the things that work for me.
But it can be anything, you can try better breathing , better body posture, eating healthy, exercise, it could be minimizing stress, you name it.
The point is that each of us have our own journey. We are unique. So it’s your journey. It’s your choices. It’s your body.
That’s it.
Take a calculated risk.
Now, start and adjust as you go.
