Gentrification is when a lower income area is transformed into an upscale area. Building are either reconstructed or renovated by businesses and affluent residents. These changes lead to an increase in the value of buildings in the area. The new high cost of living can displace residents that can’t afford it.

A coin has two sides. here are some of the the pros and cons of gentrification.

Pros

Opportunity for new housing.

Community atmosphere positive change.

Lots of New things like jobs, foods, outlets.

Safer areas.

Cleaner areas.

People can earn more money.

Cons

Rent cost goes up.

Food cost goes up.

Resident that can’t afford the high cost of living can be displace.

Community conflict could rise.

Changes can cause conflict.

Gentrification can detrimental for some people and beneficial for others.
