What’s so interesting about watching someone else play video games?

Online they are many people playing videos games and sharing their recorded videos. There are way much more people watching other people playing video games. That got me thinking, and I could be wrong of course, this is only my opinion.

But, wouldn’t it be way more fun to just play the game yourself, instead of watching someone else play the game?
