Site icon is what you usually can see on your browser tabs and bookmark bars.

You can create at site icon with paint, paint 3d or canvas.

The size of the site icon needs to be 512×512 pixel or higher and square.

the size may appears to big for such is small tab, but do not worry, WordPress theme will automatically cropped it to the useable size when you upload to the site icon location.

Adding Your Site Icon or Favicon In WordPress

Just go to Appearance then Customize and Click on the Site Identity Tab

On Site Icon click select file and upload the image you created.
